AGILIS, the French company specialising in road equipment and urban development and Paebbl, the Stockholm-headquartered producer of carbon-negative building materials, today announced a partnership to reduce the carbon footprint of concrete infrastructure.
NGE's engineering teams are tasked with reducing the carbon footprint of their structures by at least 30 per cent by 2030. AGILIS, the NGE Group subsidiary, integrated Paebbl's supplementary cementitious material (SCM) into its existing, proven formulations. The formulation studies and testing campaign were performed through a close collaboration between NGE’s Concrete Research Department and ATCM, NGE’s wholly owned materials laboratory.

Trials pushed replacement rates further still, and AGILIS teams are confident additional reductions are achievable. Because Paebbl integrates into the mix rather than replacing it, NGE retains full control and mastery of a formulation it has used and trusted for years.
The partnership's first application is already in service at the AGILIS concrete batching plant near Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, installed in April 2026. Slipform concrete is a stiff, dense, low-workability mix that is notoriously resistant to modification, making it one of the hardest applications in the industry to decarbonise. It is the first time a carbon-storing SCM has been used in this application anywhere in the world.
Both companies share a conviction that decarbonisation claims must survive scrutiny across the full production lifecycle. Paebbl's material is produced by accelerating natural mineralisation: CO₂ from industrial capture sources is chemically bonded with abundant minerals such as olivine, permanently locking the carbon into solid mineral form. What nature does over centuries, Paebbl's process achieves in a couple of hours.
The verified EPD for the product indicates a net carbon footprint of -149 kg CO₂e per tonne within the scope defined by the life cycle assessment, including production energy and logistics. It is not a gross storage number with the manufacturing footprint left out.
